Frequently Asked Questions
Preparation Before the Shoot:
- Know the purpose: Understand the theme or message. Is it fashion, a headshot, a brand shoot, or something artistic?
- Research the vibe: Look up reference photos or poses — Pinterest or Instagram can help you visualize the style.
- Coordinate wardrobe: Bring a few outfit options. Choose colors that complement your skin tone and avoid loud patterns unless that’s part of the concept.
- Grooming matters: Take care of your hair, nails, and skin. Bring touch-up items (powder, comb, lip balm).
- Rest & hydrate: A good night’s sleep and drinking water the day before make a big visual difference.
During the Shoot:
- Relax and breathe: It’s totally normal to feel tense at first. Loosen up — move naturally between poses rather than holding rigidly.
- Listen to direction: Photographers often coach you — let them guide, but add your own personality.
- Mind your posture: Keep a long neck, relaxed shoulders, and engage your core — it subtly improves photos.
- Small movements help: Tilt your head slightly, shift weight, or change hand positions for variety.
Extra Tips:
- Bring essentials: Water, snacks, mirror, comfy shoes between takes.
- Lighting awareness: Natural light is usually flattering; ask the photographer about best times or lighting setups.
- Confidence is key: A genuine smile and confidence will always translate better than perfect posing.
- Review shots as you go: Many photographers will show previews — this helps you adjust in real time.
- I don't include travel expenses in my pricing. I would not need to include this unless the travel is significant.
- Delivery time varies depending on the session length and the amount of photos taken. Generally speaking, most sessions can be finalized and delivered within 2 weeks. If the number of photos is higher or the session is one where more editing needs to be done, delivery time may take up to 4 weeks.
- I will usually leave the location up to you as my client. We are very fortunate to have a large number of picturesque locations in Northeastern PA, and more specifically in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area and the great Pocono Mountains. We have a number of nice college campuses, there are plenty of both indoor and outdoor venues--the possibilities are endless! I am also willing to travel if you have a further location in mind--let's talk about it, I'm game!
